For those who spend a lot of time outdoors, the wool jacket is a garment that often ends up being worn more than most others in the wardrobe. It keeps you warm on an early morning fishing trip, keeps you warm at the hunting stand, works as a warming layer under a rain jacket on a mountain hike, and can be worn on its own on most dry days from September to May.
Lanullva's wool jackets for men are knitted in merino wool using the method Brit Vinje Lyngstad developed in the 1990s to keep Eilif dry in Atlantic weather. The airy knit provides 30 percent more air pockets than regular wool, and these air pockets allow the jacket to retain warmth even if you stand still for two hours at a stand, while also releasing excess moisture when you walk uphill through steep terrain. You do not become clammy across the back on the way up; you do not get cold when standing still at the top.
The styles have good lengths, room for layering underneath, and zips that withstand being opened and closed many times a day. Pockets are placed where hands naturally rest, and the neck is reinforced because this is where the jacket wears the most.
Wool retains its insulation even when it becomes damp. It is precisely this property that makes the material unrivalled on long days in rainy, damp weather where synthetic jackets quickly lose their effect. In truly heavy rain or strong wind, the jacket is best combined with a rain jacket over it. The wool is RWS-certified by Textile Exchange (responsible animal welfare and full traceability), Öko-Tex Standard 100-certified, and produced in European factories with proper working conditions. Wash sparingly on the wool programme, air between uses, and the jacket lasts for many years.
