A wool jacket is essentially a thicker wool sweater with a zip, and that is exactly what makes it so practical. You can open it when walking uphill and getting warm, and close it when standing still and feeling a cool wind. The garment works both on its own on dry days and as a warming layer under a rain jacket when the weather becomes more challenging.
Lanullva's wool jackets for women are knitted in merino wool using our airy method, which Brit Vinje Lyngstad developed in the 1990s to give her Eilif drier working days. The method provides 30 percent more air pockets than regular wool knitwear, and these air pockets allow the jacket to breathe and wick moisture away from the body while retaining warmth. You do not become clammy on the way up a hill, but stay warm when standing still in the wind.
Wool retains its insulation even when the garment becomes slightly damp. It is precisely this property that makes wool unrivalled for changing weather; while other materials lose their insulating effect in moisture, wool continues to keep you warm. On long days in heavy rain, it is still wise to wear a rain jacket over it, but the wool jacket handles more than people expect.
The cuts are simple and can be worn in several settings: the city, the cabin veranda, a mild mountain hike, an evening walk along the sea. The wool is RWS-certified by Textile Exchange (responsible animal welfare and full traceability), Öko-Tex Standard 100-certified, and produced in European factories with proper working conditions. Wash sparingly on the wool programme, lay flat, and the jacket lasts for many seasons.
