Children change activities at a pace adults rarely keep up with. Outside, inside, outside again, climbing, sitting still, falling asleep in the car seat. A good wool sweater adapts to this without any adult having to regulate it. It warms when the child needs warmth, and releases excess heat when activity increases.
Lanullva’s children’s wool sweaters are knitted using our airy method, which provides 30 percent more air pockets than regular wool knitwear. These air pockets allow the same sweater to work both at nursery in winter and on mountain hikes in summer, when temperatures can fluctuate by twenty degrees over the course of an afternoon.
We knit the sweaters with the intention that they should be easy to take off and put on: the neck is open enough for the child to pull it over their head themselves, and the sleeves are made with a length that covers the arms even when the child reaches upwards. Many styles have a distinct length in the body so they do not ride up when the child sits or raises their arms.
The sweater works best against the skin, where wool truly regulates both temperature and moisture for the child. The wool is RWS-certified by Textile Exchange, Öko-Tex Standard 100-certified (no harmful chemicals against the skin), and produced in European factories with proper working conditions. Children’s wool sweaters often last through several siblings if cared for properly. Air between uses, wash sparingly on a wool programme, dry flat.
