The Havbris Wool Long Johns are the light layer. Thin, soft merino wool long johns that you wear as the inner layer, right against the skin. They are light enough to wear indoors and warm enough for a calm day outdoors.
Lanullva is developed to give comfortable warmth both when you are active and when you rest. The long johns are knitted using Brit’s method, where the knit structure traps air in the garment. The method was tested by SINTEF in 1995. Wool can absorb a lot of moisture without feeling wet, so you stay warm even when you stop after being active.

Grandmother’s invention
Eilif came home cold and sweaty from working on the farm at Lyngstad, on Norway's harsh north-west coast. In 1994, Brit Vinje Lyngstad invented a knitting method with air knitted into every stitch – and Eilif stopped being cold. The following year, SINTEF tested the method on Svalbard.

How the knitting method works
Wool alone isn’t the whole explanation. What insulates is the still air held in the knit – and Brit’s method builds a lot of it in.

SINTEF described the knit as “a thick and open structure” with “a lot of air between the fibres”.

Your body heat stays in the air pockets, even when you take a break. SINTEF found that the insulation follows the amount of air in the knit.
