Children's wool leggings

When winter arrives, the equation changes for children. A thin wool suit on its own may last an hour on the sledding hill; with good wool long johns underneath, it lasts all morning. Base layers are usually what determines how long the child enjoys being outdoors.

Lanullva's wool long johns for children are knitted in merino wool using the airy method that provides 30 percent more air pockets than regular wool knit. These air pockets are what keep the long johns warm on the sledding hill and release excess heat when the child runs home for dinner.

We make the garment in lengths that cover the whole calf, and with a waistband that is comfortable against the stomach without being tight. The stretch in the wool follows movement, so the child can climb, jump and sit in the sandbox without the long johns catching or being pulled down. After a long day at daycare, the garment can often be aired instead of washed; wool absorbs little odour and stays fresh for several wears.

The long johns are 20.5 micron merino wool and Öko-Tex Standard 100-certified, safe for sensitive children's skin even for extended periods. Wash sparingly on a wool cycle when needed, lay flat to dry, and good wool long johns often last through several siblings.
