A good base layer is the layer that determines whether you feel cold or not. If the layer closest to the skin is wrong, it does not matter how warm the sweater on top is. Lanullva’s women’s wool underwear is knitted in merino wool that sits itch-free against the skin all day, under your work shirt, under a sweater on the way to the cabin, under a dress at a winter party.

The airy knitting method Brit Vinje Lyngstad developed in the 1990s provides 30 percent more air pockets than regular wool knitwear. It is precisely the air pockets that allow the base layer to both warm and breathe. You should not feel the garment; it should simply keep you from getting cold, and from sweating too. The merino wool absorbs moisture before it becomes clammy sweat, and releases it again through the knit pattern. Even when the garment feels slightly damp, it still insulates.

Base layers are not outdoor clothing; they are clothing with added function. You can wear them under a blouse at the office, under a dress on the way to dinner, or under a shell jacket in the mountains. The same garment, all day, without changing.

The garments are knitted in 20,5 micron merino wool. The wool is RWS-certified by Textile Exchange (responsible animal welfare and full traceability), Öko-Tex Standard 100-certified, and produced in European factories with proper working conditions. Wash on a wool programme, dry flat, and you have a base layer that lasts for several years.
