Children lose heat faster than adults. They have a greater surface area in relation to body volume, and the head makes up a larger proportion of their body. A hat that covers the head and ears well is therefore even more important for a small child than for an adult.
Lanullva’s children’s hats are knitted in soft merino wool using our airy method. The knit is softer against the skin than people expect from wool, it does not itch on sensitive foreheads, and remains comfortable throughout the day at nursery. At the same time, the many air pockets in the knit pattern retain warmth evenly whether the child is sitting still during circle time or running around on the sledding hill.
We make hats in several shapes: classic close-fitting styles, fold-up styles, and longer styles that fully cover the ears. We also consider the small practical details: the brim sits around the head without rubbing the forehead, and the material is durable enough to withstand the pulling that children subject hats to.
The wool is RWS-certified by Textile Exchange, Öko-Tex Standard 100-certified (no harmful chemicals against the skin), and produced in European factories with proper working conditions. Wool smells less than synthetics, so the hat rarely needs washing. Airing between uses is usually enough. When it does need washing: wool programme, dry flat, and the hat will often last through several siblings.
